Introducing Product Research in GoatPaca

Up to now, GoatPaca has been about the logistics — how your product packs into cartons, pallets, and containers, and what it'll cost on Amazon FBA. That's the "how do I ship it" side of things. But there's a question that comes before all of that: should I even sell this product? That's what the new Product Research feature is about.

What It Does

You can now search Amazon directly from inside GoatPaca. Look up products by keyword, or paste in an ASIN, and you'll get the details that actually matter for a sourcing decision:

  • Best Sellers Rank (BSR) and category — a read on how well something is selling
  • Review count and rating — how much competition and trust is already there
  • Price in the market's own currency
  • Dimensions and weight, when available

It covers the major Amazon markets, and yes — that includes Brazil, which a lot of tools skip.

The Part That's Uniquely GoatPaca

Here's the bit I'm most pleased with: every search result shows an estimated FBA size tier badge right inline. So as you're browsing potential products, you can already see whether something is small standard, large standard, or oversize — and roughly what that means for your fees — before you commit to anything. Most research tools tell you what sells; they don't tell you what it'll cost you to ship. GoatPaca does both, in the same place.

From Research Straight Into Planning

When you find something worth a closer look, there's an "Analyze in GoatPaca" button. One click takes the product — name, price, and dimensions — and drops it straight into the FBA calculator and packing visualizer. No re-typing dimensions, no switching tools. You go from "this looks interesting" to "here's exactly how it packs and what it costs" in a couple of clicks.

Why I Built It

The honest reason is that the existing research tools are expensive — we're talking $99 to $279 a month — and a lot of people, especially those just getting started or selling in markets like Brazil, can't justify that. GoatPaca's whole thing is being simple, visual, and useful without costing a fortune. Adding research that connects directly to the packing and cost side felt like a natural fit.

It's there now — go have a look. Search something you've been curious about and see what the numbers say.
